Craftsmenship
The design of each piece of furniture starts with a miniature-sized concept drawing that is then taken forward by Samir, who carefully tailors and hand-drafts full-scale versions. The fellow designers digitize the drawings and hand them over to the carpenters. The entire process happens at the office and workshop in New Delhi's heart, where the wood masters trace, carve, and chisel to produce stunning pieces. Each furniture piece is custom-made and tailored to the client's needs and desires. They are a product of sheer love and care.
Our History
Samir Ranjan Ghatak founded Design Excelsior in 1993 in Kolkata, India. The self-taught experimental genius worked at Novas Interior for eight years, where we learned to master designing highly carved rococo and baroque furniture. Shortly after that, Samir made a leap of faith and shifted to New Delhi to run his own studio. For the last 28 years, Design Excelsior has been growing and taking many artisans under its wing, producing world–class rococo furniture and designing royal and luxurious home and office spaces.
